Ok, let's start from the beginning:
We're all born naked. Every single person on this planet. No exception. Nude is the only...natural...state of being. That's how you come into this world.
Now, clothes were invented, and we wear them, for many very good reasons, but nude is the only natural state of being and the culture I grew up in, strongly emphasizes that not only is it very important to love yourself, but you also have to love and accept your body, whatever it looks like, and accept it in it's natural state. And much in contrast to what the hypocrites will tell you, there is absolutely nothing shameful about your body in it's natural state of being.
It's especially the hypocrisy I have a problem with. We all have our opinions, on one side of the spectrum or the other, and that's all good and valid, but the amount of hypocrisy you come across, is very disturbing to me. Especially when you are young (and in particular female) the concept of body image can have devastating effect and even a deadly outcome. It's of the greatest importance to me, that we learn to love ourselves and accept our bodies as the 'beautiful temple' it truly is.
Now, it's not like nudity is some new and perverse phenomenon. It's been around for millenia. In every corner, nook and cranny of the art world, whether painting, sculpting, photography or any other expressionist form, artists from every corner of planet Earth has stumbled over each other to portray and exhibit the nude human body. Some with more luck and better result than others, but our fascination with the human body in it's natural state of being has been going on for thousands of years and is not likely to ebb in the next few thousand years, if ever. Love it or hate it, but we have always been fascinated by it, it appears (which Google analytics confirms, as far as the number of views on my various pages goes).
Anyone who have ever traveled to, in particular Europe, and been to any of it's capitals, have witnessed, or at least have had a chance to do so, a litany of nude sculptures in public, in particular, but certainly also paintings, by great and renowned artists in galleries and entire museums dedicated for the subject, all depicting the beauty of the human body in it's natural state. From DONATELLO to SLEEPING VENUS. I'm not going to name all the greats who have done it because for every one i name, I would leave out 100 other names, but even the great philosopher Sigmund Freud have weighed in on the subject.
So I grew up learning to "live, love & accept", and for that, today, I am a very well balanced individual who can appreciate anything from pot bellies to "violin bows" in their natural state of being. My only wish is that people in general would leave hypocrisy behind and learn to love, as well. There's enough hatred in the world as it is. Love and acceptance is the only way forward.
