Prejudism, Racims & Colour

"I dare to tread where most people don't. Into the mine field in order to recuse my daughter and what is important to me"

PREJUDISM:

The term is often seen in very ugly and derogatory context, and  in 99% of all cases, it is an ugly and derogatory word. Primarily because we seem to only use it towards people. And especially in a negative context.

The term itself, comes from "pre-judging" as in judging before we have acquired any kind of knowledge about the specifics, especially relating to the reality of the circumstances. We pass judgement before we have any clue of the truth. Let me give you one example: I wear a leather jacket, I wear ear rings in both ears and I (used to) ride a motorcycle. That does not, however, mean I am a drug dealer, a pedophile, a killer. I don't snort any drugs and I am  not a member of any gangs, either. I have, in fact, never been busted for anything criminal, other than a speeding ticket (which was in my old junker of a Pontiac Fiero car). I have also, by Middle Eastern immigrants who turned out to become wonderful friends, been judged to be "totally gay" because of my ear rings.

In that context, when we use the term towards other people, it usually ends up being a highly toxic word that describes what could potentially become a criminal offense....but....there are also cases (we got 1% left, remember?) where the word is fully legit and a very useful. Here comes the other example:

Prejudism is a good and necessary thing that every single one of us use every single day: You are standing on the sidewalk, about to cross the street to get to the other side (it's not only the proverbial chicken that crossed the road).  You use prejudism to "pre-judge" if you can make it safely to the other sidewalk before the car you see down the street turn you into pulp. A collection of bones, guts and blood splattered across the road. You don't know the facts yet, because you don't know how fast he's going and you have no time to gather knowledge. So what do you do? You pre-judge and make a decision to either cross or not. In that one (1) % of cases, prejudism is a very good thing. In the other 99%...it's a toxic state of mind.

RACISM:

Racism! It's really...if  you think about it...a dumb word we only use because we have no better word. We all know exactly what the words entails and it symbolizes everything ugly and criminal, but it's not really the correct word and here is why:

"Racism" implies that there are multiple races, that we somehow have a choice of race, and in terms of the human being, there are none (multiple races) and we have none (choice). There is only one race and that's the human race. Spending half my life right next to Germany, and even today, within the borders of my own former country, there are plenty of examples of racism, so I have spent some time (a substantial amount) thinking about this and I decided to just use that old, familiar word because we don't have a better one, but my point would be this:

I'm not a special "race" because I come from a particular part of the world or because I look a certain way. I have my looks, as my first link in the chain, from my parents, but the chain goes all the way back through evolution and has more to do with climate through millions of years, in that particular geographical area, than it does with what religion some chose - or chose not to - believe in or totally abstain from religion altogether. Being Canadian...or Danish....or Chinese...or Pakistani, Somali...or any other nationality...does not make me a special race. It makes me a certain nationality, but not a particular race. I come from a particular geographical area (which provided my skin with a certain hue), but that doesn't make me  a particular race. In terms of religion (I'm a true heathen), that doesn't make me a special race, either.

So, brothers and sisters from around the globe...no matter what you look like or what you do or do not believe in, suck it up and move on. We're all one. Free your mind and embrace the world. We just use that word, "racism", because we don't have a better one. And remember: An army of lovers is still better than an army of tanks.

COLOUR:

When we're talking about people, human beings, few words are as ridiculous and absurd as the entire notion of "colour", and here is why:

In random order (for good, Canadian political correctness, ha-ha), first of all, "black" people are not black. There's not one single black person on this planet. As a hard-core coffee addict, I can tell you that if you make a really strong cup of coffee (only water and beans) and put nothing in it....that is black. But there is not a single person on this planet that has that colour. There are various shades of brown, from light to dark, but there is not a single person on this planet who is black.

Also, there is not a single white person on this planet, either. I for one, is supposed to be "white". But let me tell you this, just in case you haven't noticed it yet: I'm more pink like a pig. Seriously! I got pig-skin colour written all  over me. Go to Staples and buy a pack of bleached printing paper or look out your window on the snow falling gently from the sky. That's white. But there is not one single person on this planet with that colour.

Red people???? Huh??? Your standard, old fashioned Canadian mailbox is red. Your local firetruck is likely red (at least here in Richmond). A bouquet of red roses...yes, they are actually red. But there is not a single "red" person on this planet.

Yellow people? Well, my wife is supposedly one of those, but trust me, she is more white than I have ever been or will ever be. Lemons are yellow and she has never been one of those, neither in colour nor flavour, so just another bunch of BS. There are no yellow people on this planet.

..............

And now it get's interesting. Globalism brings a lot of mixed babies. It's beautiful and it's the only way forward, so to all the narrow and feudal minds out there, I have this advice: Suck it up and move on 'cause there's nothing you can do about it. But it leaves a question, though, that further illustrates the absurdity of referencing people as "colours": If my wife is "yellow"...which she is not...and I am "white"...which I'm not...what the hell colour is my daughter, then? And if my daughter eventually has kids with a, say "red" peson...or better yet, the offspring of a, say, "yellow" and "red" mom and dad....what colour will my grand-child then be? See where I'm going? The whole thing is as absurd and ridiculous as it can possibly get...and beyond. Get over your mental barriers and blockages and accept the fact that we should be proud  of our heritage, but we should never...ever...ever...see "colour" as an obstacle. And if we come across one of those "colour" obstacles...we throw a stick of dynamite at it. Together!
