Riverview used to be a psychiatric hospital. That's up until the BC Liberal party decided that we could save some money by shutting it down and kicking everyone with addictions and mental issues out into the streets (nowhere else for them to go) where they remain until this day. Just go down to the DTES and see for yourself. Christy Clarke didn't give a shit. It wasn't her son there, right?
Gorgeous buildings on stunning lands that makes the UBC endowment lands look like a cheap Disneyland.
But it's kind of freaky walking around there, looking in through smashed windows, imagening what went on inside. Looking in, you can almost hear the moans, see the stray jackets used to restrain the most unruly. Hear the cries from the cellar. Who knows what went on there? Will the truth ever come out? I can't help but thinking of Jack Nicholson in "One flew over the coockoo's nest", forced lobotomy and all.
