Vanity, Greed & Snobbery

"The three ugly siblings that nobody like.
You often see them ride together, on their donkey."

VANITY:

It's good to take care of yourself, no matter how you twist and turn it...but...the invisible line (between taking care of yourself, and vanity) that most people (especially girls) don't know they have crossed, is razor sharp and a lot nearer than you realize.

Vanity is a disease that grows on you like a cancer and if it gets to the point where you can't sleep without lipstick (like it did to a friend of mine), you got some serious problems that are neither good nor healthy for neither you nor anyone else, except for the makeup and cosmetics industry. You have reached the  level of hardcore addiction and though it might not be lethal to your body, it often is to your relationships and at this stage, your mind  has been suffering for a while.

So, keep applying those skincare products than you paid a million dollars for, in the belief that they actually work (for anyone other than the cosmetics industry) proportionally better than the generic stuff. But beware of the accumulative effect - especially on  your mind - as well as the placebo effect. It's good to take care of yourself, but make sure you know where to draw the line. It's the line to envy. Or as they say in English: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions".

GREED:

A disease of the mind. It's stuff! The accumulation of stuff way beyond your needs. Compulsory obsessive accruement of stuff at a level that indicates a perceived dependance on an ever-expanding "more" no matter the means of obtaining such delusional goal. A dark, bottomless pit from which it's near impossible to escape. An alienating state of mind.

Despite the illusion of impressing people, most are going to think of you in contrary fashion; a poisoned mind with the wrong values and low morals & ethics.

As per above, it all comes down to balance in life...and an ethical/moral approach based on your needs rather than on your wants.

Let there be no mistake; we all need money. No exception to that. The question is how much do we need...and have you ever heard of "wealth distribution"? What is your approach on that front? Please don't tell me you are a hoarder looking for justification?

SNOBBERY:

Snobbery! It's all about attitude. The wrong kind of attitude. It's the "I'm better than you" attitude. I am "more" than you. I am "above" you and you are way down there, "below" me...and it's all bullshit.

Snobbery you often see walking hand in hand in hand with its two sisters/brothers above; greed and vanity. I will grant you as much as to say that what is sometimes seen as snobbery by others, can also be due to insecurity by oneself (first-hand experience) but most of the time it's because the self sees themselves in a higher light than others, more worthy, and falsely so.

But as we all know, or at least should know if we have any kind of life experience; "where there is smoke, there's a fire." There's always a reason. Whether we see that reason, whether it's a direct result or indirect result of our actions, the reason is there.

Some societies are more prone to snobbery than others, it would appear. Being of European origin myself, it would be absolutely fair to say that some countries see themselves as more "royal" than others. Or more "republican" than others, if you are on my current continent. But whether you are on one side of the fence or the other, snobbery is about personality and the belief that you are somehow more "worthy" because of circumstances. To me, it just signals a sick mind. Simple as that.
